For those who have never experienced it before\, Stony’s Christmas Lights display\, launched with a magical family day of Christmas fun\, is one of the best around! Every Christmas Stony Stratford glitters and shines with enchanting\, twinkling lights\, and excitement builds as the festive season is officially launched following the town’s Christmas Lights Switch-On Fun Day. \nThousands of people will come into Stony Stratford for the switching on of the Christmas Lights but many miss out on all the other activities that go on around the town during the day to make it a full day’s experience: \nWATLINGFEST: Each year we have a wealth of local musical talent performing on the stage in the Market Square from about 11.30am to 4.20pm. There is always a good mix of musical genres and this year is no exception. Watch out for the programme on our website. \nCIRCUS SKILLS: Concrete Circus will be setting up on the Market Square to encourage children to have a go at juggling\, unicycling\, tight-rope walking and other circus skills. So why not bring the kids down to have a go. \nMORRIS DANCING: Morris dancers are often seen around Stony Stratford but if you have missed this experience or want to see them again\, you will be treated to a range of different styles and colourful costumes. \nFUNFAIR: Funfair rides are a regular feature of Stony Light’s Fun Day both on the High Street and in the Market Square. \nSTONY STRATFORD STORY STROLL: Why not join Red Phoenix as she weaves her stories on a walk around the town. \nSANTA’S GROTTO: Santa will be making a stop off in the Market Square in Stony Stratford as part of his busy schedule to delight the children. \nAnd of course\, we must not forget all the stalls that will be selling their festive wares on the High Street. \nFinally\, as it gets dark\, the lantern parade will meander down London Road to the High Street and into the Market Square in time for the countdown\, then the lights will be turned on followed by some community carol singing to get the Christmas celebrations off to a fine start! Please note that it can get very crowded at this time and therefore we advise that people do not bring dogs into a crowded area. \nFor more information\, about all the events that are taking place on this wonderful family day\, keep a look out on the official Christmas Lights website: www.stonylights.org or our Facebook page: Christmas Lights at Stony Stratford.

DESCRIPTION:Yes\, that’s right – I’m hosting a street food event! \nSophie etc.\, Toybox and Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre are bringing you an eclectic and exciting mix of local street food vendors\, offering an array of delicious dishes inspired by cuisines from around the world\, with something for everyone to enjoy. \nProceeds from the event will support some of Milton Keynes’ fabulous small charities including Toybox\, St Marks Meal and Girl Pack MK \nThe event features some of Milton Keynes’ favourite street food vendors (lineup to be announced soon!) and I’m so excited to use this platform to raise awareness of local charities. \nI’ve been working with Toybox for the last nine months managing their social media channels through my social media agency\, Social etc. I’ve seen the impact of the work they do for street children around the world. \nWe’re collaborating with St Mark’s Meals and Girl Pack because they share Toybox’s values and support the community a little closer to home. DESCRIPTION:Staff at one of MK’s largest employers\, Cranswick Convenience Foods\, have organised their third Family Fun Day taking place on Sunday 3 September at Middleton Pavilion to benefit The Winter Night Shelter MK – one of Cranswick’s long-term charity partners. \nThe Winter Night Shelter MK\, run a range of services\, including a year-round welfare team who offer practical and emotional advice. Their latest figures show that in June 2023\, nearly 50% of their guests had not experienced homelessness before\, with around 20% needing advice regarding their finances. Funds raised at the Family Fun Day will support the charity’s vital work in Milton Keynes\, helping some of the most vulnerable people across the city experiencing\, and at risk of\, homelessness.
