DESCRIPTION:The festival\, which features a one-mile-long wonderland of illuminations\, has returned to Gulliver’s resort in Milton Keynes for the second year running\, but this time brings the theme of classic children’s literature to life.\nIt features a wide variety of installations from popular and much-loved characters and scenes including The Three Little Pigs\, Dr Doolittle\, Little Red Riding Hood\, Cinderella\, Wizard of Oz\, The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan to name just a few \nThe 2023 festival\, which was declared open by Cllr Legg alongside youth mayor\, Chloe D’Souza\, will run until 25 February 2024. \nDarren Hoy\, Land of Lights Festival Manager\, said: “We were thrilled to welcome the Mayor and Youth Mayor of Milton Keynes to Gulliver’s to officially open the Land of Lights festival 2023. \n“Following the successful event held in 2022\, we’re expecting thousands of people from across the country to attend and explore the festival’s enchanting installations\, which includes more than 7\,000 individual lanterns and hundreds of thousands LED lights. This year it is even bigger and better with some really showstopping lanterns for all the family to enjoy. \n“The entire team is so excited we are now open\, lighting up Milton Keynes once again to not only provide a magical evening out for our guests but to also bring a real economic boost to our city over the winter.” \nMore than 100 people are involved in the hand-crafted production process for Land of Lights\, undertaken by the American-owned Zigong Lantern Group\, an award-winning custom designer and manufacturer of handcrafted lamp art. \nTicket prices start at £15.50 and to book and/or find out more about Land of Lights please visit: landoflights.co.uk \n

DESCRIPTION:The immensely popular Christmas Lights Switch-On Fun Day is normally held on a Saturday at the end of November. For those who have never experienced it before\, Stony’s Christmas Lights display\, launched with a magical family day of Christmas fun\, is one of the best around! Every Christmas Stony Stratford glitters and shines with enchanting\, twinkling lights\, and excitement builds as the festive season is officially launched following the town’s Christmas Lights Switch-On Fun Day. \nThousands of people will come into Stony Stratford for the switching on of the Christmas Lights but many miss out on all the other activities that go on around the town during the day to make it a full day’s experience: \nWATLINGFEST: Each year we have a wealth of local musical talent performing on the stage in the Market Square from about 11.30am to 4.20pm. There is always a good mix of musical genres and this year is no exception. Watch out for the programme on our website. \nCIRCUS SKILLS: Concrete Circus will be setting up on the Market Square to encourage children to have a go at juggling\, unicycling\, tight-rope walking and other circus skills. So why not bring the kids down to have a go. \nMORRIS DANCING: Morris dancers are often seen around Stony Stratford but if you have missed this experience or want to see them again\, you will be treated to a range of different styles and colourful costumes. \nFUNFAIR: Funfair rides are a regular feature of Stony Light’s Fun Day both on the High Street and in the Market Square. \nSTONY STRATFORD STORY STROLL: Why not join Red Phoenix as she weaves her stories on a walk around the town. \nSANTA’S GROTTO: Santa will be making a stop off in the Market Square in Stony Stratford as part of his busy schedule to delight the children. \nAnd of course\, we must not forget all the stalls that will be selling their festive wares on the High Street. \nFinally\, as it gets dark\, the lantern parade will meander down London Road to the High Street and into the Market Square in time for the countdown\, then the lights will be turned on followed by some community carol singing to get the Christmas celebrations off to a fine start! Please note that it can get very crowded at this time and therefore we advise that people do not bring dogs into a crowded area. \nFor more information\, about all the events that are taking place on this wonderful family day\, keep a look out on the official Christmas Lights website: www.stonylights.org or our Facebook page: Christmas Lights at Stony Stratford.
